The Charleston area will once again host a PGA Championship on one of its world-famous golf courses.
Kiawah Island will host the 2021 PGA Championship on Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Ocean Course. This is the second time this course has hosted the respected golf tournament; the championship was previously held on the Ocean Course in 2012.
The Spotlight Returns to Charleston’s Golf Courses
The world’s attention is yet again on Kiawah Island and the Charleston area. Not only is this premier championship returning to our area in five years, it is continuing to add to the prestige of Kiawah Island’s Ocean Course.
The Ocean Course is one of just four golf courses to host each of the major American PGA championships: the Senior PGA (2007), the Ryder Cup (1991), and the PGA Championship. Its oceanfront location and lengthy layout present a challenge to even the greatest golf pros.
Golfing is a Way of Life in Charleston
Kiawah Island’s golf courses are well known throughout the world. But Charleston has more jewels to offer than just the Ocean Course.
Among Charleston’s premier golf courses are Fripp Island Resort (ranked in Links Magazine‘s top 100 best golf courses), RiverTowne Country Club in Mount Pleasant (2015 Charleston Golf Course of the Year), and The Links at Stono Ferry (2011 State of South Carolina Golf Course of the Year).
With countless golf courses and a lifestyle centered around the game, Charleston offers a myriad of golf course homes to bring home buyers and homeowners even closer to the action.
